PSG Edges Olympique de Marseille via Spot-Kicks to Claim French Super Cup in Kuwait.

PSG players celebrating

The Parisian club has now claimed the prestigious trophy on fourteen separate times.

The Parisian giants needed a stoppage-time leveler followed by a successful spot-kick decider to get past their arch-rivals in Kuwait and capture a fourth straight French Super Cup victory.

The Champions League holders seemed to be coasting towards a straightforward triumph in the match featuring the Ligue 1 champions and the Coupe de France holders after the French winger opened the scoring early on.

Yet, the southern French side struck twice late to take a surprise lead. First, Mason Greenwood scored from the penalty spot, before the defender inadvertently turned the ball into his own net for an own goal.

In a remarkable twist of events, the Portuguese striker snatched a vital leveler in the dying moments to send the match into a deciding shootout. The Parisian shot-stopper Chevalier then emerged as the hero, saving decisive kicks from Matt O'Riley and Traore.

From the spot, Ramos, Vitinha, Nuno Mendes, and Desire Doue all scored successfully for Paris Saint-Germain to seal a convincing penalty victory.

Now 14-time champions Paris Saint-Germain, who met last season's Ligue 1 second-placed team Olympique de Marseille after achieving a league and cup double, have now won this trophy for the twelfth time in the past thirteen years.
