Ever since the premiere of Campaign 4, fresh DM Brennan Mulligan has kept fans guessing with rich lore, a diverse cast of heroes, and a thrilling plot featuring divine entities, fiends, and malevolent powers increasing in power within Dol-Makjar.
Warning: Key plot points for the third episode of the new season lie ahead.
The Warrior Group Unveiled
The third episode finished on a major cliffhanger and presented the initial group of characters who will split off from the main group to embark on their own adventure, apart from the other two tables.
The Soldiers table consists of Teor Pridesire (played by Travis), the agile character (Laura Bailey), Tyranny (Whitney), Wicander (the player), and Kattigan (Robbie Daymond).
Dividing the Cast
Considering 13 cast members, it was clear from the beginning that having everyone at a single group would be unfeasible.
This explains, the opening chapters of the new season serve as an Introduction, intertwining the personal journeys before dividing into three smaller tables: Warriors, Schemers, and Seekers.
What Defines the Warrior Group
According to the Dungeon Master, the combat-focused party is for players who enjoy a typically action-packed battle-oriented story mode where peaceful solutions are few and far between.
At first glance, characters like the hesitant healer the cleric might seem out of place, but the events of the third episode demonstrate why these particular heroes are perfectly fit for the combat party.
Reasons to Leave
For one thing, the party has a clear idea where to go next after a intense initial meeting with the antagonists.
An old friend of Thjazi—whose passing started the campaign’s events—exploited the enemy for his personal gain, entering Thjazi’s hideout, striking the character, and stealing all the powerful objects to dispose of.
Casimir then settled his obligations and ran away to a Halovar stronghouse in Gormalay, Timmony, beyond the urban center, with Cyd pursuing him.
Character Drivers
Additionally, each character has a individual motive to depart the metropolitan area:
- The rogue, as Thjazi’s partner and trusted friend, wants revenge.
- The adventurer knows the region and cautions that it is a dangerous environment.
- Tyranny and The healer, having disobeyed his relatives’ demands to execute Teor and instead freed him, have nowhere else to go.
- But, their status as important members in House Halovar could enable the team access areas they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Furthermore, The fighter swore a unbreakable promise to The savior for his rescue and will now follow him anywhere.
Wanted and Hunted
Finally, all of them are hunted by the rulers that control the city for a range of causes, making remaining behind dangerous:
- Thimble and The character are known criminals.
- The warrior and The healer defied the influential house and the army of fiends they are partnered with.
- The target is marked for death by the family.
This leaves them little choice but to travel to Timmony in quest for the traitor.
Upcoming Developments
Based on the latest episode’s Cooldown, we find out that the warrior group will not appear the following episode, leaving the other eight cast members to assemble the Seekers and Strategists tables.
Fans can look forward to learning which adventurers will be where in the story’s concluding setup installment, available to watch on next week.
